- In a previous article, Jim asks:
-
- > Question: What amiga/OS are u running? Are you using 3rd party sw to control
- > your CD-ROM on the amiga side or the dosdriver from OS31 itself?
-
- I haven't upgraded to OS3.1 as yet. I am using ASIM-CDFS (Hamilton, Ontario).
- When the problem surfaced, this was still the main CD file-system for the
- Amiga. UU, not wanting to break tradition, blamed the conflict on bad
- coding on the part of ASIM (professionalism in the Amiga market is increasingly
- becoming an oxymoron). A techie friend of mine believed otherwise and I
- *believe* subsequent releases of the ASIM software contained a bug-fix (tho'
- ASIM too claims the problem to be Emplant related.
-
- My solution was simple. I appended 'emp' to (2nd.)scsi.device in the CD0
- DosDriver, then moved CD0 to Storage/DosDrivers and selected
- 'leave out' from the Icon menu. Your problem is trickier :^(
-
- Does HDTOOLBOX empscs.device show the drive in its correct postion/information?
- Do other SCSI direct apps. locate the Drive.
-
- > My kickstart is v40.70...
-
- again, I'm still stuck in the past.
-
- > The CDROM functions perfectly from the Mac side BTW...
-
- I'm beginning to believe that the *problem* is in using this beta-release
- hard/software for anything more complicated than its emulation duties.
-
- > ...there is a small old 52 meg Quantum drive on the scsi chain...
-
- If the problem is indeed a conflict with Quantun drives, you might want to
- try the setup with the CD alone. Remember as well that only the last
- *physical* devices on the chain are terminated.

-
- Try instead 'right-amiga + .' (i.e., Mac-flower + period) to kill the requestor.
- This problem is a common one and results from a bug in Quicktime 2.0.
- Version 2.1, available anonymous ftp from Apple, fixes this. The bug also
- manifests itself at shut-down.

- Good luck & please post any progress you might make.
- Sorry I could not be of more help.
